Landon's Birthday Water Table

For Landon’s birthday aunt Shauna got him this really cute water table. If you don’t know Landon all that well he LOVES water. Anytime he sees water he thinks he has to touch it or play in it. We were waiting until aunt Shauna could come out to play so we could put it together. Every time we would get together we always say we are going to put it together but something always comes up and we don’t. Finally, this last weekend when I was out of town and Landon got to spend time with aunt Shauna, Grandma, and Grandpa they put it together. And he absolutely loved it just like I thought he would. I guess he played for hours and hours and didn’t want to go inside when it was time for bed. I guess he is for sure a summer baby!

When I went to pick him up he had to bring me outside and show me how it works. He even knew how to use the hose to fill it up with water. Like I said and I will probably say it again he is a smarty pants! When it was time to leave he threw a big tantrum because he didn’t want to leave his water table.

That very next morning I took him to Grandma’s again and within 10 minutes he wanted outside to play with it. I think Grandma is going to need to hide it for a couple of days!!!

“I fix it mommy!”

Last night I was sitting on the couch (yep, of all things I shouldn’t be doing) and Landon was playing with some of his toys. The one toy he was playing with was a Nascar #9 car that would spin its back wheels and make racing car sounds as you played with it. Well, apparently it wasn’t working like it should! He flipped it over and looked at me and said “Look it broke”. He kept pointing at it and repeating this many many times. Finally, he walked over to me and pulled at my arm for me to get up. Once I finally decided to get my lazy butt off the couch I followed him to the laundry room. He pointed up at the shelf above the washer and dryer and said “Please, please, please”. Since he is a smart little cookie he knew that we kept the screw drivers in a tool box on that shelf. So I kindly handed him a screw driver to work on his toy car. He went over to his upside down car and went to town! He would put the screw driver in each hole under the car that contained a screw. After attempting to unscrew each one he flipped the car over and it started to turn its wheels and make car racing sounds just liked he hoped it would. At that moment he looked at me and said “I fix it mommy!”

It was so cute and it was a moment that I just stopped for a minute and smiled… How could you not love this cute little guy?

It just reminded me of so many memories and stories that I heard from my grandma about my dad doing the exact something. My grandma would tell me many times about my dad taking something apart and putting it back together just to see how it works. I guess the curiosity got the best of him. Growing up as a little girl my dad could fix anything! If it broke he fixed it! That included toys, house hold items, and cars; you name it he could fix it. Every time I see Landon trying to fix his toys I just think of these many stories my grandma told me.

I’m sure it helps that his daddy fixes lots of stuff too and Landon loves to help with those jobs as well! I guess he will grow up to be a good handy man.

The big day is coming...

I bet your thinking Thanksgiving... Well I was think more along the lines of Black Friday! Don't get me wrong I love Thanksgiving. It's a time for families to get together and share what they are thankful for this year and to make many memories to remember in the future. And then... it game planning time! After making all our tummy's so full we can't wobble we gather around and go through all those Black Friday ads. I think that it's become part of Thanksgiving for my family. What deals can we get and how many stores can we hit up. Once we all decide what we want we make a game plan. I want this you want that I will go here you go there. My sister and I have went together and team tagged it the past couple of years. We have come out pretty good in the end. We have also been lucky in trying to get what we want too. For me it's not only getting good deals it's about having fun and being out with all the other crazy people. Oh, did I say "crazy people"? I meant "people". LOL.

One week from today is the day!!! Do you go shopping on Black Friday? Do you do it for the great deals or for the fun of it?

Click here for the link to all the Black Friday ads.

I have viewed a couple of them. There are some good deals but nothing so far that is a must need. I am looking for some good deals on toys this year for my little guy. In that past years it's all about the adult toys. I guess the rings have changed a little bit. Hopefully, I will find that perfect deal on the perfect toy.

A little of this and a little of that

Last Saturday was a busy day. The funny thing about it is that I didn't have any plans for Saturday when Friday rolled around. It was one of those days that was last minute lets do this and now do that.

First my sister, Landon and I met up with some friends from work at Snowbird. They were offering free tram rides if you donated food to the food bank. What a better cause to donate to and receive free entertainment. I have been there before and loved it. It is something fun and different to do. There was some amazing views from the top of the mountain. At first I was a little worried about Landon. It seems the night before he didn't feel good. Yep, them good old molars are breaking through. On a side note it was a sleepless night for both my sister and I (we had a sleep over since Jon was working). I didn't know what the altitude would do to his ears and mouth. He was drooling everywhere! For the most part he did pretty good other than he was in some pain. I gave him so good meds before we went! If you want to ride the tram they are doing it again this weekend. See my post below.

After snowbird we decided to met up with my mom, two aunts, and cousin at Gardner Village. They are currently having their Witch Fest right now. It is decorated so cute! They can take everyday clothes put them on a witch and say "Ta da". So cute!

After Gardner Village we headed home to met Jon once he woke up. After sitting on the couch watching absolutely nothing on TV Jon, my sister, and I decided to go to a haunted house. A haunted house... I can't remember that last time that I went to one. Ummmm I'm thinking maybe high school. And no I'm not telling you how long ago that was cause I am old! Anyhow, we decided to go to the Haunted Mansion. First off let me tell you this. I hate scary movies, being scared, and haunted houses. So yes I was a little nervous but I kept telling myself this is all made up and not real. Don't believe it! I do have to admit that it wasn't that bad. I think the worse part was the section with the mental patients. Freaky... The funny part about the adventure is that when we were going through the chain saw part they totally touched my leg with the bar of the chain saw. Yep, I felt it on my calf. I just laughed to myself.

All in all a pretty good but busy day. It was nice to not have plans but do some fun stuff. I have posted some pictures from the day below. Oh I love my cute little Landon.

AMAZING Country Apple Dumplings

A couple of nights ago I clicked on this blog and they had a recipe for Country Apple Dumplings. Yummm the picture looked so good and so easy. So off to Wal-Mart I went to make a special trip to get the ingredients.

All I can say is that is was heaven. I got vanilla ice cream to go with it and with the warm dumpling with the cold ice cream.... HEAVEN. I could have ate the whole pan but luckily I didn't.

Thank goodness I stumbled across this recipe or maybe it's a bad thing. I am trying to find an excuse or occasion to make it again. LOL! For the complete recipe click here. Thank you Utah Deal Diva!

Jon's Elk

This last week we went hunting for Jon's Elk. It was a pretty fun trip other than it was about 90 degrees everyday. We thought that we were hunting in July instead of October. Usually its snowing by now. Anyways while Jon was off hunting Landon had tons of fun playing in the dirt with his cousins and seeing what the outdoors offer. It absolutely loved it! He wanted to be outside every minute he possible could.

Jon was really excited this year to go on his hunt. After a couple of months preparing for the hunt it was finally here. It was a really hard hunt this year being that the weather was so hot. The elk don't like the hot weather so they were seeking cooler temperatures high up in the mountains. Which was not ideal being that these mountains were steep rocky mountains. You would have to be a rock climber to attempt to climb these mountains. Finally one night it cooled off a bit and the elk started down the mountain to some hay fields. That next morning is when Jon got his first elk.

Is Fall Here Yet?

With fall still around the corner you would have thought by today's weather that it was already here. Which makes me really excited! For the past oh I would say 2 weeks I have been trying to think of every reason to decorate for fall. I love the feeling of the fall decorations around the house. It makes it feel all warm and cozy. Fall is one of my favorite time of year I would have to say (I think when every season changes I say it is my favorite season. Mostly, I think when it the season do change I am ready for a change). Cool crisp temperatures, gorgeous fall leaves, yummy soups, the holiday's begin, home decorations, and just the feeling of the season. Oh and did I forget to mention hunting. I better add that to the list too just in case Jon reads this. He would consider that the best part of fall.

In trying to hold off in putting up my fall decoration I have come up with a few projects to do before that happens. The first one I wasn't planning on until I hit up the Dollar Store. My mom and I was browsing there one day and saw they had their fall flowers out. We both started to put a bouquet together. Needless to say as we walked throughout the store in the end I ended up with a bouquet in a vase.

Now the task was taking it home and actually putting it together and making it look divine.

Here is what I started with... A variety of flowers, vase, ribbon, and bark from a tree.

And here is the end result...

So for around $12 I was able to create this gorgeous fall bouquet. I got everything except for the bark at the Dollar Store. I was able to snag the bark from a dead tree in my parents back yard. I broke it into piece's and lined the inside of the vase with it. I wish you could see it better in the picture but in person you can really see the bark. Not to shabby for my first time putting something like this together.

Now on to the next project... When I am done with that one I will share it too with you. It is also going to be simple and cheap!

Yummy Shrimp Pasta Dinner

A few nights ago I made this yummy shrimp pasta dinner. The inspiration and recipe came from a Health magazine that Jon got in the mail. Let me tell you this was divine!!! I think we may have this weekly for a while it was so good. It was so good I had to share the recipe. Also the best part about is that it is HEALTHY!!!
Shrimp Pasta Dinner (Serves 2)
1/2 Zucchini
1/2 Yellow Squash
1/4 C Red Onion
1/2 C Mushrooms
30 Shrimp
3 oz Whole Wheat Spaghetti Pasta
4 tbls Parmesan Cheese
Cook pasta as directed by the box and then set aside. Cut up the zucchini, yellow squash, red onion, and mushrooms into bite size pieces. Saute all of these in the same pan until tender. Add the shrimp and cook until warm.
Split your pasta between two plates, top with shrimp and vegetable mix, and finally top that with the parmesan cheese.
And enjoy!!!
Note: In the future I probably will add some seasoning or marinate to the shrimp and vegetable mix for different flavor.

Is it really Jacob?

This last week me and a couple of co-workers went to lunch at Braza Grill on State Street. If you haven't ever been to Braza Grill it is a must try! If you like Rodizio Grill you will love Braza Grill with a cheaper check at the end of dinner/lunch.

Anyways, to get the really story of this post. We were enjoying our amazing food that you just drool over when you take each bite, when one of my co-workers said "Hey, doesn't that server (the server being the one that brings all the yummy meat around) look like Jacob from Twilight?" I hadn't really even looked, but when I did I had to take a second look. It really was Jacob!!! Jacob here in Salt Lake City working at Braza Grill. How could that be I thought? For about the next 10 minutes or so we kept staring at him and pointing. He probably thought that we were crazy loonies that decided to stop in for lunch. After him coming to our table 2 or 3 more times to offer us some juicy meat and inpecting him so more someone finally spoke up and said "Do you know you look like Jacob from Twilight?" He smiled with a little chuckle and said "Some girls told me that yesterday and wanted a picture." Once he said that I was like "Yep and your getting a picture with me too."

After we stuffed ourselves so full that we pretty much had to roll out of there I kindly asked him for a picture (not to mention there was a little peer pressure to get one). I forewarned him that if a whole bunch of girls came screaming in it was because I blogged about it.

What do you think? Jacob or not?

Twilight Jacob

Braza Grill Jacob Honestly, in person he really looked more true to Jacob.

Kennecott Copper Mine (Rio Tinto)

About a month ago we decided to go visit the visitor's center at the Kennecott Copper Mine or now known as Rio Tinto. If some of you don't know this is also where Jon works. He drives the big trucks around every now and then when he's not doing other stuff.

I have been there a few times through my life but I think that I have forgotten just how big all the equipment is that is up there. It's like a whole city up there. From down in the valley you would never know what goes on up there until you visit it. It was really nice because I had my very own personal guide to tell me about everything. Jon explained to me how everything works, where they are doing blasting, where they are rebuilding roads, and how the shovels work.

I was excited to take Landon to so he could see where his daddy works. Although he probably didn't understand most of it I can say that we took him there.

Here are a few pictures that we took while we were up there. Note: I took these picture on my mom and dad's camera.

Camera Update

Two weekends later and still no camera...

Although I have to admit that I haven't looked that hard. When I wrote the last post I was planning on Jon working and I could clean while he was gone. However, it hit me that he was working nights. This means that I couldn't plan on cleaning during the day. I would have cleaned at night but if I don't get to bed early enough I am not a nice person to live with the next day. Just as my family :) It also doesn't help that Landon waking up at the butt crack of dawn.

Anyways, I have been distracted in many ways and have come up with many excuses to not search for it. I do want to find it though so one of these soon to be days I will look for it again.

What?... Free Slurpee's

Who absolutely loves Slurpee's? Uhhhh... me, me, me.

This is my summer favorite treat thanks to my sister Shauna that also loves them. I had to pass the word on. Shauna and I always make a trip or two to get a good old summer slurpee treat. Last year when I was pregnant I would make a stop after every doctor's appointment to get one. What's your favorite flavor??? I would have to say that I love good old banana. Sometime I will slip some mountain dew in but banana is it.

To get your fix on Sunday, July 11th 7-11 is having free slurpee day. Click here for more information www.slurpee.com/events/

Missing Camera

Can you believe it??? Here I am!

So it’s been a super long time since I have posted to our blog. So much has happened in the last month or so and I haven’t even blogged about it. Awww, it drives me crazy to think about. I think about it daily but it never happens. Landon had his first birthday, is now on the move, got fun new toys, and has gone on a few mini road trips. With this last weekend being the 4th of July that just leaves one more thing that I need to blog about. And its summer there is always something to blog about.

I would have to say I am going to blame my MISSING CAMERA for not blogging! (I know you can blog without pictures but it’s not as fun) For the life of me I cannot find it. I am telling you right now that me and cameras don’t get along at all. Every camera that I have owned has broke, gotten lost or sucks really bad. When I was pregnant with Landon and when was born I didn’t even have a camera. My mom and sister took all the shots. Luckily for Landon they were there to save the day. With that said I finally broke down and bought a camera around Halloween. I didn’t want to go through the holidays without a camera and miss all of Landon’s firsts. I bought a Canon point and shot and absolutely love it! It is probably one of the best cameras that I have owned. Oh I miss it!!! So the story of the lost camera starts with me. Me hiding it and not remembering where I put it. See one day it was sitting on my night stand next to my bed. I noticed that it was wet from a cup of water that was sitting next to it. You see I have this very adorable kitty named Roxy. She finds it irresistible to leave water alone. She puts her paw in it, drinks out of it, and completely makes a mess all around. So being me not wanting my camera to get ruined I hide it, mainly because I was mad that she got it wet. Hide it so good I don’t know where it is. I have semi looked hard for it and no success. I am thinking that it is about time to tear my house apart and find it. This is going to be my mission for this coming weekend. It will be found.

However, my sister and mom came to the rescue again and took all the pictures at Landon’s birthday and the 4th of July. I just need to catch up with them and get the pictures so I can blog about our fun adventures. So until my camera is found or I get some pictures hold tight. I promise I will blog again.

True Story

Do you ever feel like this?
