Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was a fun and busy day. I still had to wrap almost every single present that I bought for everyone. When Landon woke up bright and early at 7:00 A.M. we headed downstairs to start wrapping the big pile of presents. It was so cute Landon sat right next to me playing with all the paper and ribbon. He was mommy's little helper!!!

You can see his little puppy helped too.

Landon on Christmas Eve afternoon by the tree. I got some cute/funny picture's.

Later that night we went to my parent's house for a yummy Christmas Eve dinner. This is something that we have done every year since I was a little girl. I love it!!! It's the best when you get to eat delicious food, hang out with family, and finally enjoy the holiday.
Aunt Shauna got this Mater car for Christmas. It is the cutiest thing ever and Landon thought so too. If you shake it, it will then say something and take off across the floor or table. Landon thought that it was cool that it talked and moved.

Pretty much that was our Christmas Eve and I wouldn't have changed a thing. Well, except maybe all the present's being wrapped way before the day before Christmas.
Soon I will post our Christmas picture's considering it is almost New Year's already.

Daddy's Present to Landon

Friday Jon went to Salt Lake to buy some Christmas presents for me (I am not suppose to know that he bought mine too) and his family. When he came home he brought in this adorable puppy for Landon. A stuffed animal puppy I guess I should say. Shoot me if he was to bring home a real puppy. It was the cutiest thing that I have ever seen. Landon played and played with his new puppy. Later that night Jon and Landon we sitting on the couch trying to decide on a name for the new puppy. I heard name's such as Spike and Fred. Hopefully, Landon put his foot down and demanded a cutier name for such a cute puppy.

Here is the cute puppy.

My hair :(

I AM LOSING ALL MY HAIR!!! CALLING ROGAINE...

Since I had Landon ALL of my hair keeps falling out left and right. Seriously my hair is everywhere. My bathroom, on my clothes, all over the house, in my car, on Landon, you name it my hair has taken residence there. Many people I know have told me after being pregnant that your hair will fall out for a while. So I knew that this was going to happen but I didn't think that it would be this bad. You guys, it is really really bad. When I wash my hair in the shower I can pull gobbs of hair out. It really scares me that I am going to be bald one day.

After dealing with it for a while and getting a little scared that I am going to wake up with no hair one day I decided to do a little research. Here is what I found at http://www.babycenter.com

All new moms experience hair loss, though some lose more than others. (Of course I am the one to lose the most)

Here's why it happens. During pregnancy, changes in your hormone levels cause your hair to stay in a resting phase for longer, so you lose less hair on a daily basis. (You may have noticed that your hair seemed thicker than usual.) (Loved it when my hair grew like a weed, was nice and shinny, and thick! But I guess there is consquence to everything -right-)

After you've given birth and your hormones have settled down — usually at about 12 weeks after delivery — more hair shifts into a shedding phase. You may be alarmed to find hair coming out by the handful. (I knew that hormones had something to do with it. They were also right about the 12 weeks. Right as I went back to work is when it all started happening. At least they got the handfuls part right.)

Normally, you lose about 100 to 125 hairs a day, but after delivery, you may be losing about 500 a day. This can be very disturbing, but try not to worry too much — you won't go bald! (500 a day? What are they thinking? Your telling a post partum mom that they are going to lose 500 strains of hair a day. Then they follow up with "you won't go bald", that makes ya feel better. I have been losing hair for about 3 months now so that adds up to 45,000 strains of hair that I have lost so far. People it doesn't go back over night. I'm SCARED.)

There's little you can do about the shedding, other than to be patient. The shedding tends to be most noticeable when you're shampooing or brushing your hair, so you may find that shampooing less frequently or letting your hair dry naturally instead of brushing and blow-drying helps slow the loss. (Patience -huh-. I guess that I am going to have to work on my patience because I have very little right now.)

On the other hand, it's going to fall out at some point, and you might prefer that it happen in private. Regular washing and brushing may help you avoid leaving a trail of shedding hair behind you all day. Try using a thickening shampoo if you feel your locks are getting too thin. You may notice fine "baby" hair growing along your hairline at the top of your forehead once the shedding phase has ended. Having bangs can do a lot to camouflage this wispy new growth while it's growing out. (Yes, I looked at my forehead line and I have two bald spots one on each side of my head with baby fine hair going back. Luckliy my other hair hides it.)

Within another six months or so, your hair should be back to its normal pre-pregnancy thickness, but you may find that the texture of your hair is never exactly the same. It may be wavier or straighter or more dry or oily than it was before pregnancy. This is probably due to the hormonal upheaval you've just been through. (Six month of losing hair and growing it back is a freaking long time. Well, if I go off the 12 week thing I am about half way through my hair lose ordeal. I don't think that I have much more hair left to lose so hopefully it will stop soon but I don't think it is going to.)

If the hair loss doesn't seem to be slowing and you're still losing lots of hair six or so months after delivery, check in with a dermatologist or your healthcare provider. It may be a sign that you're low on iron, which is not entirely uncommon for new moms. (Hopefully it won't get to this)

Anyways it is driving me crazy and I am really sad to see my thick hair be gone.

The Evil Three's

They always say everything happens in three's as well as when one thing goes wrong, everything else goes wrong too.

We had our experience of this a couple of weeks ago.

First was my car. It has been acting a little funny lately with lack of power and the engine missing when trying to accelerate. A while back Jon and my dad changed the fuel filter and spark plugs and it fixed the problem oh for about 2 weeks. Finally, we decided to change the fuel filter again thinking that maybe it was plugged again. After changing it the old one was not plugged and was perfectly fine. Jon and my dad dug deeper into the car and started to check the spark plugs again being that it seemed like my car was miss firing or not firing on all four cylinders. The diagnosis was that I needed new spark plug wires. The wires that I needed I had to order online and it would take about a week to get here. In the mean time I was going to continue to drive my car until it decided to choke and almost die on my way to work. Luckily, I wasn't to far from home and took it back and got the truck. Finally, we got the wire after waiting for what seemed forever and put them on. My car now purrs like a little kitten. It just needed a little TLC :)

While all that was going on that same week the evil number two jumped right on the ban wagon. Yep, the computer burned up. Literally burned up. It had been acting funny and started doing funny things here and there. For example the mouse one day just quit working, the keyboard would type different letters than you were really typing, and finally it would randomly go to a black screen. Most the time you could just restart it and everything would go back to normal. Oh no it didn't happen this night. My sister was playing on the computer and the screen went black. So we turned it off like we normally do and it never came back on, well maybe for 20 seconds. It turned on all by itself like it was going to start back up and then it shut itself off. I looked at my sister and my sister looked at me like what the heck just happened. Within minutes it started to smell like electrical was burning. I unplugged it and called it a night. With that said after a day or two I went on a hunt for a computer. I found a killer deal on a dell. I got it ordered, waited patiently, and it finally arrived. Your probably thinking that's why she hasn't had any post lately -huh-. Your right!!

So with these two things happening within the same week I new something else was awaiting it's turn to jump on that same ban wagon. I kept waiting and waiting wondering what it was going to be. Something big, bad, or something stupid that we can laugh about.

The final conclusion was light bulbs at our house. All four recess lights in our kitchen went out as well as our outdoor garage light withing days of each other in that same week. It probably would of been something that I would have overlooked but being the week that we had I was looking for that evil three.

I just have to say being the week for things to go wrong I am very GRATEFUL that it was little minor things that were manageable that went wrong. I could only think of the other bigger things that could have went wrong.

Just another thought... I really think the bonus monster had something to do with it all. Anytime we get a bonus something comes up that we have to use that money on it. It happened this last spring when I got a bonus and it just barely happened when Jon got his bonus. I think the bonus monster keeps tabs on everyone when they are due to pay up. Just a thought...

Are we a true Scorpio?

Jon and I just had our birthday's. His was on the 2nd of November and mine was on the 10th of November. Sadly enough we didn't do much of anything. The plan was to have a big birthday bash for Jon since he turned 30 but ALL of us decided to get sick the day before the party. For my birthday we both had to work so nothing really happend then either. Last Sunday my family came down and gave us our birthday gifts, which was really nice. Once we all get better the birthday bash will be back on!!!

Since both Jon and I birthday's are in November that means that both of us are Scorpio's. I thought it would be fun to see what a true scorpio's traits are. Do you think that this is me, Jon, or both of us?

Scorpio Fun Facts

Deep, intense Scorpio may seem withdrawn, but natives of this sign hold within themselves rapid-firing brains and rich depths.

Beneath a controlled, cool exterior beats the heart of the deeply intense Scorpio. Passionate, penetrating, and determined, this sign's natives will probe until they reach the truth. The Scorpio may not speak volumes or show emotions readily, yet rest assured there's an enormous amount of activity happening beneath the surface. Excellent leaders, Scorpions are always aware. When it comes to resourcefulness, this sign comes out ahead.

Friends and Family

"I desire" is the key phrase for the Scorpio. They are fantastic at managing, solving, or creating. Once the Scorpio sets their sights on a goal, there's no deterring this sign. Their ability to focus, coupled with determination, makes for strong management skills. They're not ones to worry about making friends on the job scene; rather, they prefer to see the task accomplished well.

Pursuing such careers as scientist, doctor, investigator, navigator, detective, researcher, police officer, business manager, and psychologist all suit the mighty Scorpio. Respect is an essential aspect of working for this sign. They need to respect their co-workers while also feeling a sense of being respected by others.

Scorpions are disciplined enough to stick to a budget and unafraid of working as hard and as long as it takes to get themselves in a good financial position. Many are fortunate and inherit money. Whatever the case - and regardless of the balance - they are great managers of their dollars and are not apt to overspend. Money means security and a sense of control, which is important to the Scorpio. Therefore, they are going to hang on to the majority of their cash, making decisions carefully before turning any of it over.

New Obsession Part 2

I knew that something was missing when I posted the last post.

100 lbs of Idaho potatoes. Yes, lots and lots of potatoes in this household. I bought this bag from a girl at work for $15. I of course got my mom to split the bag with me. We have been eating potatoes ever since.

I think the question is "How many different ways can you eat potatoes?"

New Obsession

You’re probably thinking a freezer full of food, huh.

It all started earlier this year when my parents and us, being Jon and I decided to buy a whole pig and split it. It actually took a while to get it because it was a little piglet when we bought it and it had to grow up. We bought the pig from a guy that my dad works with so my dad would always come home and give us updates on how the pig is doing. My dad and Jon thought that we really needed to name this little piglet and pay it a few visits during its life. They always suggested that Wilbert would be a good fit, how dare them. All I could think about was the cute little pig on Charlotte’s Web named Wilbert. However, my mom and I have very soft hearts and couldn’t even think twice about naming this little piglet let alone paying it visits. Even though they are dirty and stinky little things it is still sad to think that it’s life is going to come to a short end so we can eat it. :( With that said a couple weeks ago our pig was finally ready for us to pick up. We got about 180 lbs worth of meat. All the white packages in the freezer is the pig. We were able to get lots of bacon, sausage, pork chops, pork roast, steak hams, butt hams, and hucks for yummy lima bean soup. Ummmmmmm doesn’t that sound good.

Next my mom and I decided to purchase 40 lbs of chicken. Macey’s was having a case lot sale and they had 40 lb boxes of chicken for 1.49 a lb. It was a pretty good deal and I couldn’t pass it up. The past couple of years my mom has bought the boxes of chicken but this year I finally decided that it was a good investment. Why is it such a good investment for us? Well, Jon loves to eat chicken. I have never seen anyone that loves chicken like he does. I at least fix some type of chicken every other night. So the brown box’s in the freezer is the chicken. One box for them and one box for us.

My other adventures are trips to Costco and sadly enough Wal-Mart. Every time I go to the store I have this urge the whole time that I have to buy double of everything. Which, yes I have been doing. It doesn’t matter what it is I still grab double. For the longest time I didn’t realize that I was doing this until one day when I was thinking about food storage. I thought to myself that I have a little stock pile of food storage going on right now. Probably not the right kind of food storage for an emergency but it is still food.

I was explaining my new obsession to my mom the other day and she just smiled and laughed. She said “I think that you are being a typical mother and are feeling the urge that you need to make sure that your family is set”. Once she stated this I knew she was right. Every time that I buy in bulk it makes me feel good knowing that we have a stock of it.

I think that it is so funny how I have changed since I have become a mom. This is just one of many things that I have noticed. I will post others later that I have noticed and is frankly just driving me nuts.

My next bulk obsession is making some homemade Salsa!!! And YES I will drag my mom into this too. I guess I feel that they need to stock up too.

P.S. I am still pretty upset about my post getting deleted yesterday.

Frustration

Huh- I can't tell you how frustrated I am right now. I was just writting a post and I suddenly got an error message and it said that it couldn't save the information. It made me click okay and guess what.... My entire post did not save!!! It was a long post that I was pretty much done with and it is gone. So when I get over it I will rewrite my post and hopefully will be able to post it.

A Day At the PuMpKiN pAtCh

Last Saturday we went to a pumkin patch in Layton. It was lots of fun and I want to do it again next year. You probably ask why in the heck would you go to a pumpkin patch in Layton when you probably passed up 10 on your way there? Well, my friend Sara went there the week before and said that it was fun and pretty much free. The name of the place was J and J nursery which by any means was a huge nursery. Not only would you get a free hay ride and pumpkin for each person they were doing a food drive for the local food bank in Davis county. It was a bit cold but we bared through it. I bundled Landon up with his jacket and the one blanket that I brought. By the time we were done his little nose and fingers were like ice cubes, poor little guy. If it makes you feel any better when we got back to the car we turned the heater up full blast and he warmed right up.

Growing up I don't ever remember going to a pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins. If we did I must of been a little tyke and that is why I don't remember it. As a kid I remember waiting until a week or so before Halloween and going down to our local Albertson's and digging through the many boxes looking for the perfect pumkin. My sister and I always had to find the biggest pumpkin that we could find. I know many times mom and dad wouldn't let us get the big ones and would talk us into the smaller big ones as they would say.

Nothing can replace those special childhood memories that I hold. Anyways, I am glad that we went and I can't wait until next year.

Getting ready to leave to go to the pumpkin patch.

What a cute family picture :)

Landon on the hay ride back. It was exhausting picking out pumpkins

Friday Night Fun

So Landon is now almost 4 months old and I have been patiently waiting for him to one-day roll over. Many other babies that I have known have all ready done this by now so like any other mom I think that he should too. However, I know one reason why this has not happened yet. The one reason I can think of like I mentioned in my last post is because he doesn't like to lie on the floor. Honestly, I don't blame him. You can only look at the same ceiling and other surroundings (including his toys) for so long. He only last maybe 10 mins on the floor max. I know this is not enough time for him to learn that there is another way to change up the view. After much thought I have made floor time more present than it has been in the past.

On Friday night after I got done putting his adorable PJ's on (I will tell you about the PJ's in a moment) I decided to lie on the floor next to him and play. He was lying on his back and would slightly curl up in a ball and fall on his side so he could see me and smile. I would talk and try and bribe him to finish rolling over but he wouldn't :( I think the problem is that he doesn't know what to do with the arm that he is trying to roll over. That dang arm is acting like a roadblock for him and I have decided that I need to have a little chat with that arm.

Anyways after many attempts and a half hour of trying I finally helped him roll on to his tummy to show him how it works. This is when the MAGIC happened. I started to get up off the floor and glanced down and it happened. He rolled over from his tummy to his back. Yeah, it finally happened!!! I looked at Jon and said, "Did you see that?” He sadly missed it. So I was on a mission to get him to do it again. I thought "Hey, maybe you might want to go get the camera". So I barreled on up the stairs, grabbed the camera, and barreled back down the stairs to discover that he rolled over again. I couldn't believe I missed it. So for the next hour I tried and tried to get it on camera and would he do it? Nope. That little sticker would not do it. I hope he knows that one day I will get it on camera. Now we just need to work on getting him to roll over from his back to his tummy.

Now about the adorable PJ's. My mom made this way cute Cars blanket and gave it to me at one of my showers. She then later found some really cute PJ's to match it that had Cars all over them. The PJ's are a little big but they worked and I couldn't resist not getting any pictures of him in them. So here they are.

This is after a hour of trying to roll over and mommy taking lots of pictures. Needless to say it was bedtime.

Some New Toys

So finally I am going to post again. Yeah!!!!!! I can not believe how busy life has become. Going back to work has definitely shaken things up a bit. However, I think that we might finally be getting things down into a routine. Just in time for the holiday's -right-. Then the craziness starts all over again. Although I can't complain to much because I do love this time of the year with every ones birthday's and the fun holiday get together's.

So on with the post. Landon got a new chair and walker this week. He absolutely loves to either sit or stand. If he is doing one of these he is a happy camper. If you even think about laying him down he will soon let you know what he thinks about that. Kicking, screaming, and crying are the results that you will hear. Since my mom watches Landon while I am at work she decided to invest in a walker with lots of fun toys on it. He loves to sit in it and play for a while, at least until you can get a load of laundry in. Now for home I decided to get a Bumbo. Yes, I invested in one of those ugly looking chairs. He fits right in it sitting straight up like a big boy. I have been able to use it while I am doing dishes and making dinner. What a life saver so far!!! After a while he will start getting board and then he will start to wiggle his way out by arching his back and pushing on the sides with his hands. What a little squirt. So we will see how long this will last being he is already trying to get out of it. I guess apparently he thinks that he is to big for it :)

Our first day apart, Part 2

So while I was at work all last week my mom would send me updates with pictures throughout the day. I loved that my mom did this for me and I loved seeing what he was up to without me. Here are a couple of pictures that she sent.

Playing in his swing.

Taking a nap.

Taking another nap.

E-mailing mommy at work.

...and finally being a cute little guy that he is.

Our first day apart.

So Wednesday was my first day back to work. In a weird way I was a little excited to go back but then as the time got closer that slowly faded into sadness. The day before I went back to work I just held my baby all day and we took a couple naps together. I just wanted to take it all in before I wasn’t able to do it for a while.

Wednesday morning came pretty fast after our long holiday weekend. I soon found myself dropping my little guy off at my mom’s house. As I was standing in the kitchen looking at my little guy I kept telling my mom everything she needed to know to prolong the moment when I had to leave. I think that my mom noticed that I was doing this and she said to Landon “Say bye bye to mommy”. That is when I realized that I really had to leave him and I gave him a big kiss on the cheek and turned around and headed for the door. I did surprise myself by not completely breaking down and crying the whole way to work but only getting watery eyes for a moment. The whole way to work I kept looking in the back seat for the little guy. I would then realize that he wasn’t there and then I would reassure myself that at least he is in good hands with my mom and he isn’t at a daycare where he potentially could be neglected.

Amazingly my first day wasn’t to bad at work. I think that I kept myself busy and was trying to get back in the hang of thing I didn’t have the voided time to sit and really think about him. However I couldn’t wait until 4:00 came to leave so I could go get him and give him many loves. I can’t say the something happened on Thursday and Friday. Each day it got harder and harder to leave him. By the time I pick him up after work drive home he is ready to eat and go to bed. I feel that I don’t get to play, hug, kiss, or adore my little guy. Then it is off to the same routine the next day.

I am glad that my first week back I only had to work 3 days. I now know I have the whole weekend to fill in all my voids that I am feeling. I think that Monday is actually going to be the heart breaker knowing that I have a whole week to work.

With all that said I am now in tears and I am going to post this so I can wipe those away. Hopefully it will get easier.

Playing is Hard

I guess this is what happens when you play to hard. If you notice he is half way off the play mat. He did that himself. He likes to push with his feet and slide back. I will walk out of the room for 10 mins and come back and he is a good foot or two off the mat onto the carpet. I will have to get a picture. He always seems to make me smile, I love this little guy.

Archery

The other day Jon and his friend Greg went down to Desert Peak to practice their archery skills for the up coming hunt. Landon and I decided to tag along and get out of the house for a while. Landon must have thought that this archery thing must of been pretty exhausting because as you can see from the picture’s below he was knocked out cold sleeping in the back sit of the truck.

July 4th

I know that I am little behind on posting things but I will one day catch up.

Here are a few pictures of Landon on the 4th of July. We just hung out at home all day being that it was so hot and Landon had an upset tummy. We then later that night went to my parents for a BBQ. The whole family came over and it was tons of fun. It is sad that the only time that we get together is for holiday's. I know that everybody gets busy with life and it is hard to get together.

Just for him...

In prep to go on vacation to Island Park, Idaho Landon needed a life vest so we could go boating. My dad went on a mission to find one for him on KSL. He found this one that is so cute. I think that it is a little big but this is the smallest life vest that they make. I guess they assume that a 4 week old baby wouldn't be going boating. Huh! I guess that they are wrong about that. At least he will be able to grow into it. I thought that these pictures are to cute not to post.

2 Week Check Up

Here is Landon at his two week check up. He weighed 7 lbs and 12 oz. When he left the hospital he weighed 6 lbs 14 oz. So he has gained all his weight back plus some. The doctor said that everything looks great and that he is healthly little boy.
